ABOUT US
Taya Hughes is a Zimbabwean born Fashion designer based in the North West of England. She is the founder/CEO of the British Fashion Brand Tayamika specialising in womenswear fashion and accessories.
Tayamika is passionate about fashion and philanthropy. She is a Director/Trustee for the UK based Charity Leading Support for Humanity LSFH of which she is also a Creative Director of their social enterprise fashion brand BASAL T4B, whose ethos/mission is to clothe the privileged to support the less privileged. The BASAL T4B Brand is an acronym which means Buy And Save A Life Tayamika for Basal.
Taya often speaks openly about the humanitarian issues being created by the fashion industry through her work and platform. She hopes that through her journey she can inspire other emerging designers to join the fashion revolution and create positive change in fashion. In 2019 Taya created her Ethical Sustainable Luxury Fashion Brand Tayameaca which reuses and recycles wedding dresses to create new garments which are also dyed using natural dyes.
Tayamika is the recipient of The Liberty Fashion Design Competition Award 2016, In 2019 brand Tayamika received a special recognition award at The Pacesetters Business Expo. In 2020 Tayamika received a GAB award for her contribution to creating a positive image for Africa and Africans through fashion.

Since launching her Tayamika brand in Oct 2015 her designs have been seen at various fashion shows and exhibitions around the UK including Liverpool Fashion Week, Liverpool Slavery Museum Exhibition, Liverpool Urban Hair Show, Passion for African Fashion PAFASH and Pacesetters Business Expo. Taya has been able to fuse her passion for fashion with philanthropy by taking part in various charity fashion shows around the UK in support of Leading Support for Humanity LSFH, HIVE, Ditch the Label, MIND, Women’s Refuge & British Lung Foundation.
Taya was a part of the Pacesetters Online Business Expo 2020 where she showcased her latest fascinator collection and has also been a host for the Pacesetters Fashion and Beauty Online Exhibitions.
In October 2021 Taya featured on the SKY Arts documentary Statues Redressed.
